Z Sculpt Entertainment announced that Return to Dark Castle is now on Steam. As part of the introductory offer, it's being offered at a 25% discount for a limited period.

Original Version

Return to Dark Castle was first released in 2008 for the Mac OS X. It's the third game in the Dark Castle series after Dark Castle (1986) and Beyond Dark Castle (1987). This latest version revives the legendary Macintosh series that defined precision platforming and comic peril.

Development of Return to Dark Castle actually started in 1996. It was said to be notoriously protracted and in fact was often labeled vaporware. Before the 2008 release, it was initially planned to come out in 2000. The wait was worth it particularly to fans as the game introduced color to what once were black and white graphics. In addition, the gameplay and all 30 levels of the two previous games were integrated while 50 new levels were added.

New Version

The definitive edition comes with the Dark Castle (1986) and Beyond Dark Castle (1987) adventures. It's been rebuilt with color visuals, remastered audio, original music and refined controls. In addition, there are more than 50 all-new rooms that's been created exclusively for this version.

The game has players take on the role of a new hero on a quest to defeat the Black Knight and reclaim the castle’s secrets. Expect classic challenge, slapstick misfortune, and finely tuned puzzle-platforming that rewards skill and patience.
