Brain-dead Rabbit Games announced that Dark Adelita is launching on Steam this May 5. This high-intensity and pixel-art action platformer is set in post-revolutionary Mexico. Players have to dodge deadly traps, outgun relentless enemies, and fight against nightmarish bosses that's pulled straight from Mexican legends.

The game puts players in the role of Angela, a veteran of the revolutionary struggle. They get to embark on a dark journey across Mexican states. As a fast-paced and sidescrolling shooter. Dark Adelita has Angela fight against hordes of enemies under the control of a dark power from ancient Mexican myths. The good news is she's armed with her trusted rifle and has those fast reflexes.

An Evil Awakens

However, the path won't be easy. It's 1918 and a period when the Mexican Revolution is coming to an end after years of bitter fighting. While change is sweeping across the suffering land, it seems that an ancient evil has started to awaken. This evil feeds on the fears and suffering of devastated people as it brings creatures straight from Mexican legends to life. As the blight and darkness spread across the land it's now up to Angela to face the darkness. With a rifle in hand, she sets out on a path that tests her physical strength and mental endurance.

Fast-paced Gameplay

Dark Adelita players go on the journey through polished and fast-paced gameplay. Since they're always outnumbered and outgunned, players have to rely on her speed and agility to dodge enemy bullets, after all, one shot is all it takes to be taken down. In addition to her trusty rifle, Angela also has access to a wide range of weapons. Combine this with special abilities and sheer determination, she faces a rather impossible task where each encounter is a high-stakes challenge to players’ reflexes.

As she journeys deeper into the nightmarish world unleashed by the foe she pursues, Angela finds herself fighting for her very soul. The wails carried by the wind turn blood into ice, shadows lurk around every corner, and creatures of folk and legend come to life only to attack with unimaginable ferocity.

In a statement, lead programmer Ricardo Reyes revealed that each aspect of the game is rooted in the culture and history of Mexico. He said that they wanted to be able to offer a fun game that has a unique theme while at the same time showcase what makes Mexico and its culture special.
