Everyone is Invited to the Anniversary Celebration for Owlboy

Get to try and experience the new Super Dash ability.

It has been a decade since Owlboy was first launched. To celebrate this latest milestone, developer D-Pad Studio released the Anniversary Update. It's the biggest update to have been released and introduces new features along with balances and accessibility.

One of the new features added is the Super Dash ability. To activate this ability, players simply need to hold the "Roll" button and get that added boost in the current direction when rolling. Then there's the auto-aiming system, which lets players experience the whole game without the need to use a second thumbstick on the controller. Meanwhile, returning players are sure to love that they are now able to skip all major cutscenes in the game and immediately get right into the action.

The new update also makes changes to the Settings which include:

  • Auto-aim can now be toggled on/off in the Options Menu.
  • Screenshake can now be toggled on/off in the Options Menu.
  • Flash Effects can now be toggled on/off in the Options Menu.
  • Drop Gunner On Dodge can now be toggled on/off in the Options Menu.

For balance changes, these are:

  • Several bosses have had their attack patterns modified.
  • Various balances to bosses & enemies HP.
  • Alphonse's Blast attack now affects more bosses and enemies.
  • Several environment layouts have been altered to make them easier to navigate.
  • Fire-damage no longer eats at Otus' healthbar.
  • Pirates can now be permanently stunned in various ways during stealth sections.

Check out what else the Anniversary Update brings to the game here.

Owlboy is a story-driven platform adventure game that lets players fly and explore a brand new world in the clouds. They get to pick up their friends and bring them along as they explore the open skies. Players need to overcome obstacles and defeat greater enemies, in one of the most detailed adventures of this era.

Owlboy tells the story of Otus, who, being mute, struggles to live up to the expectations of owl-hood. Things turn from bad to worse with the sudden appearance of sky pirates. What follows is a journey across monster infested ruins, with unexpected encounters, well kept secrets, and burdens no one should have to bear.

For the PC, Owlboy is available on Steam.
