Everyone is invited to the festivities as Rivals of Aether II is celebrating its 2nd anniversary. As part of the latest milestone, Aether Studios is releasing a 2 Year Anniversary bundle for free. It features a Year 2 icon design along with a Workshop Icon design.
By the Numbers
The past two years have been excellent for Rivals of Aether II. For one, the title managed to pass 100 million games played. Fire Rivals continue to be the most popular character though it was a surprise to see Zetterburn take second place and surpass Loxodont.
There were more than 6,000 Rivals 2 brackets that ran on start.gg between the anniversary last year and this one. Meanwhile, since workshop beta launched, there have been at least 2,000 creations uploaded as creators have tinkered with characters and items.
The Road Ahead
There's still time left in 2026 and that means more new content are set to arrive. For 2027, there are some interesting plans being worked on. There's going to be four events happening with eight-player matches being eyed for a release as well. Players can also look forward to seeing two rivals and two remix rivals.
Rivals of Aether II sees the base roster of new and returning characters. Each of these playable Rivals have an expansive moveset featuring new mechanics and special moves that are not only an upgrade over the original game, but new to the platform fighter genre as a whole.
