No release date yet but the game is coming out on Steam.
For those looking for a video game that's along the line of slice of life anime, then you're in luck. Solo Developer nospacelost and indie publisher Shoreline Games announced that they're currently working on a side-scroller titled Kick. It has players dribble a soccer ball on their way to school. They get to kick, jump, and run across different levels while trying to avoid damaging items. They can also collect new skins for their ball.
As mentioned, while players dribble the soccer ball on the way to school, they'll have to avoid obstacles and dodge pedestrians. The game pretty much challenges players to master the art of soccer ball physics. That means kicking the ball at the right angle to make sure that each trick lands exactly on how they planned it.
Kick has players control a kid who goes through their morning practicing their skills in the park or maybe run a little faster to catch the train. They may even take those well trodden shortcuts to cut off some much needed seconds from their travel time. Their journey isn't limited to sprawling parks as they also go through bustling streets, scenic beaches, and even shaded underpasses, to name a few.
Along the daily journey, they get to collect coins while also completing various challenges. In return they can unlock soccer ball skins and even flags.
In addition to the announcement, a trailer has also been released which can be viewed here.
Kick is the debut title from solo developer nospacelost, who hails from Switzerland. In a statement, nospacelost Founder Peter Soerensen revealed that the game has been a labor of love and he's happy to be able to share it with the world. He went on to say that he wanted a game that people could lose themselves in but has no threat and even no danger. Ultimately, it's all about a boy, his ball, and the next trick.
Meanwhile, Shoreline Games CEO Keith Kawamura shared that they're excited for Kick to be part of the studio. He added that what drew them to the title was the idea of a game focused on a boy kicking a ball. He went on to say that the nostalgia of kicking around a soccer ball is something that a lot of players can easily relate to.
